First Wash off Everest, Oil Pastel on Fabriano paper

Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay were the main duo behind the first (successful) summit of Everest in 1953, after three attempts with the last being fatal of George Mallory, who’s obession with Chomolungma lead to his death. The photograph I used as reference is one of my all time favourites of Hilary having a shave and a wash after returning back to base camp.
